FAQs

Below are popular questions and answers on air conditioning installation, servicing, cost, noise, warranty and appearance.

What does air conditioning actually do?

Air conditioning doesn’t just cool the air. It also filters, dehumidifies, and circulates it, helping to create a more comfortable and healthier indoor environment all year round.

Can air conditioning be used for heating as well?

Yes. Most modern air conditioning systems provide high-efficiency heating as well as cooling, making them a cost-effective alternative to traditional heating systems, especially during spring and autumn.

Is air conditioning expensive to run?

Modern systems are extremely energy efficient. In many cases, running costs can be lower than traditional electric heating, particularly when used sensibly and correctly sized for the space.

Is air conditioning bad for your health?

No, when properly installed and maintained. In fact, air conditioning can improve air quality by filtering dust, pollen, and airborne particles. Regular servicing is key to keeping systems hygienic.

Do I need planning permission to install air conditioning?

In most domestic and commercial cases, no planning permission is required as they often fall under ‘Permitted Development’. However, listed buildings or installations in conservation areas may need approval. We always advise for this to be checked

How long does installation take?

A typical single-room installation usually takes one working day. Larger or more complex systems may take longer, but we’ll always confirm timescales in advance.

Will installation be disruptive?

We keep disruption to a minimum. Most installations involve minor drilling and pipework, and we always leave the area clean and tidy once work is complete.

Where can the outdoor unit be installed?

Outdoor units can usually be installed on external walls, roofs, or ground brackets. We’ll recommend the best location based on performance, noise levels, and aesthetics.

How much does air conditioning cost?

Costs vary depending on room size, system type, and building layout. As a guide, prices are typically £1,000 - £2,000 for a single room system. We provide free, no-obligation surveys and quotations.

What size system do I need?

System size depends on factors such as room size, ceiling height, occupancy, equipment, and sunlight. We carry out proper heat-load calculations to ensure the system is correctly sized.

Can one system cool multiple rooms?

Yes. Multi-split or VRF systems allow multiple indoor units to run from one outdoor unit, ideal for homes or commercial buildings with several rooms.

How often should air conditioning be serviced?

We recommend servicing at least once a year for domestic systems and twice yearly for commercial systems, depending on usage and compliance requirements.

What happens if air conditioning isn’t serviced?

Lack of servicing can lead to higher running costs, reduced performance, poor air quality, and breakdowns. Regular maintenance also helps protect manufacturer warranties.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes. We offer tailored maintenance and service contracts for both domestic and commercial customers, helping to keep systems reliable, compliant, and efficient.

Are air conditioning units noisy?

Modern systems are designed to be very quiet. Many indoor units operate at noise levels similar to a whisper, making them suitable for bedrooms, offices, and meeting rooms.

Will the units look bulky or unattractive?

Not at all. Today’s systems are slim, modern, and discreet, with options including wall-mounted, ceiling cassette, ducted, and floor-mounted units.

How long does an air conditioning system last?

With proper installation and regular maintenance, systems typically last 15 years or more.

Do air conditioning systems come with a warranty?

Yes. Most manufacturers offer warranties of 5–7 years, provided the system is installed and maintained correctly by a qualified contractor.

Are you F-Gas certified and fully insured?

Yes. We are F-Gas certified, fully insured to £10,000,000, and work to all current UK regulations and best practices.

Do you work with both homes and businesses?

Yes. We install, service, and maintain air conditioning systems for homes, offices, retail, hospitality, healthcare, and industrial premises.

Do you provide free surveys and quotes?

Absolutely. All surveys and quotations are free and no obligation.
